Day 1 arrival Tehran
Upon arrival at Tehran airport you will be met by a representative from our local agency; that brings you to your hotel. Central to the city is the National Museum, with an extensive collection that gives you a good picture of the historical development of Iran, as well as Islamic art and culture. Nearby is the Golestan palace; this is the old palace of the Qajar dynasty and gives a good insight of the noble life of yesteryear. The National Jewel Museum is without a doubt one of the best museums in the country with its world-famous Jewells collection. showpieces are the world's largest rose diamond, the Darya-e Nur and the Pheasant Throne. The museum is limited open: in the afternoons from Saturday to Tuesday (14: 00-16: 30). Do not miss a visit to the bazaar, this is one of the largest and most important bazaars in the country (close on Friday).
Day 2 Tehran / night train Shiraz
Today you have the opportunity to get to know the Iranian capital. You can visit the Sa'd Abad park, in which various residences together formed the old summer palace of the Shah. Not far from there is the former home and work residence of the last shah and his family. It is said that nothing has changed since the Shah fled Iran in 1979. The Azadi Square (Square of Freedom) was built on the occasion of the celebration of 2500 years of the Persian Empire. Nowadays large manifestations sometimes take place. The Milad Tower offers a beautiful view of the city and the surrounding mountains on a beautiful day. In the evening you get on the night train to Shiraz, where we provide reserved sleeping places.
Day 3 Shiraz
Early in the morning you arrive in Shiraz; a nice city that is especially known in Iran for its poets and gardens. One of the most famous poets is Hafez. His grave is in a small, quiet park that attracts local visitors all day long. Do not be surprised if someone quotes from his head from a poem of him. In the back part there is a traditional tea house where you can enjoy black sweet tea or the water pipe while sitting on cushions. You can also visit the mausoleum of Sa'adi, the other poet. Equally atmospheric are the gardens at the Eram palace. In Shiraz you should definitely visit the lively Vakil bazaar and walk along the Zand boulevard. In the bazaar you will find lots of small shops with their trinkets and specialties. For the souvenir hunters, there is certainly something to be found here. At the bazaar is also the beautiful Vakil mosque, with beautiful mosaics. Central to the city is the Arg (citadel) from the 18th century at the time of the Sand Dynasty. The citadel is nowadays decorated as a museum and has a beautiful bathhouse under one of the (crooked) towers that can be visited. Nearby is the beautiful Bagh-e Nazar garden and the Pars Museum.
Day 4 Shiraz - Isfahan via Persepolis
You exchange Shiraz for Isfahan, but first you visit one of the highlights of Iran; Persepolis. In the morning you can visit this impressive complex. You can do this on your own initiative, but you can also rent a guide on site. Persepolis is of course highly recommended for anyone who wants to go back to the times of the ancient Persian Empire and its Aechaemenid kings. Persepolis is the Greek name for the 'City of the Persians', even though people have never lived here. The remains are at the foot of the Mountain of Mercy. During the annual New Year's Eve (Noruz, on 21 March), the delegates from the Persian people gave their tributes to the kings here. Especially the reliefs in this palaces complex are well preserved. Special is the 'staircase of the Nations' where you see pictures of all the peoples living in the Persian Empire who bring their tribute to the Persian monarch. Darius the First had a terrace here from where you have a magnificent view over the entire complex. A little further on are the four Achaemenid royal tombs at Naqhs-e-Rostam (Darius I and II, Xerxes I and Artaxerxes I), which have been carved into a 65-meter high mountain wall. The graves can not be viewed from the inside and can be viewed from a distance. You will also find some impressive reliefs from the time of the Sassanids. Then you will travel to Isfahan, where you will arrive early evening.
Day 5 Isfahan
Isfahan is undoubtedly the most beautiful city in the country and the culmination of Persian culture. Isfahan is a museum in the open air with many mosques, palaces, gardens, addresses and bazaars. At least you have plenty of time to see everything, to have a conversation with a curious 'local' and to look for the best souvenirs at the bazaar. There is something for everyone.
In the center of the city lies the 160 by 500 meter square Meidun-e-Emam. On both sides you will find the Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque, the six-storey Ali Qapo Palace and the Imam Mosque (Masjed-e-Emam). Especially this last mosque should certainly be visited at sunrise and sunset. You will be amazed at how different the mosque looks every time. Look for the peace of a tea house near the bazaar. Here you can recover from the overwhelming impressions that this square, but also the large adjacent bazaar will make. The immense bazaar is divided into departments that each offer their own products. Carpets, antiques, gold jewelry, clothing, pans and pots, books and waterpipes, everything is sold here.
Day 6 Isfahan
There is much more to do in this beautiful city. Do not forget to visit the Friday Mosque, the Christian and Armenian quarter in Jolfa, the impressive Golestan-e-Shohada cemetery where the victims of the Iraq-Iran war are buried and the 'moving' minarets of Manar Jomban.
Day 7 Isfahan - Yazd
In the afternoon you get on the train to Yazd, where you arrive a little four hours later. Yazd is one of the most beautiful cities in Iran and one of the nicest places to stay, with its beautifully preserved old town. Here are now several restaurants, tea houses, hotels and shops.
Day 8 Yazd
Yazd is without  doubt a special city where many old mud houses are characterized by typical 'badgirs', the wind towers that catches every wind. An age-old form of air conditioning. Particularly noteworthy are the many subterranean 'qanats' with which melt water from the mountains is expertly guided through the city and provides dry parts with water. Hidden among the streets are some beautiful mosques, including the Friday Mosque and the Masjad-e Mir Chakhmaq. On the square you will find one of the most beautiful 'takieh' in the country. This is a place where during the mourning period Moharram (the first month of the Muslim calendar) the traditional passion plays, in memory of the martyrdom of imam Hussein, take place.   The city is also known as the center of Zoroastrianism. You can visit a fire temple here, the 'Atashkade' (the house of eternal fire) and the Towers of Silence are located around Yazd. These are the traditional cemeteries where the Parsis (adherents of Zoroastrianism) laid down their dead. In the evening you can visit Zoorkhaneh, 'House of Strength' to witness a traditional Iranian sport.
Day 9 Yazd - Tehran
In the morning you still have time to explore Yazd. In the afternoon you get on the train to Tehran, a ride of 6 hours. From the train station you will be transferred to the airport.
